Ever feel like there are no interesting non-Prothro options available near campus?

Go north on Highway 29, and you will hit Nelson County. About twenty minutes away from Sweet Briar, there is a big ice cream cone on your left. Turn left at the ice cream and continue down that street, and in the middle of nowhere, you will find Thai Siam, attached to an antique’s barn.

This is the hidden treasure of Nelson County.

The food is always great and satisfying, and the menu offers a wide variety of options, including appetizers, noodle or rice dishes, curries, soups, vegetarian options, and more. Most dishes have a choice of meat and spice (I would highly recommend the mild, unless you are very adventurous). The portions are very generous and the food is always well-prepared.

We tried a large sampling of dishes and were equally satisfied with all of them. Everything is extremely flavorful, which makes the meal a truly entertaining experience.

Compared to Thai 99 in Lynchburg, one pleased student stated that, “The food at Thai Siam is definitely better!” The difference is that Thai Siam only provides takeout, whereas Thai 99 offers a sit-down option.

The ladies who run the restaurant make everything fresh, so either call your order in or plan a night out of it. You will not be disappointed. Due to the high-quality experience and the superior choice of food at Thai Siam, we would highly recommend everyone take a trip up to Nelson County soon!
