CONTRIBUTING WRITER

The SweetPEAs have been an integral part of Co-Curricular Life for quite a while, but there is still some confusion as to our function as a campus organization. As Peer Educators and Advocates, we sponsor numerous programs pertaining to health and wellness, and serve as student representatives for the health center. We have facilitated many speakers in that past, dealing with various issues ranging from dating violence to physical wellness; likewise, we participate in the day of ADS, and sometimes are solely seen in Prothro Commons with our table full of information. The most recent addition to our sponsored programs is the Emotions Process Group, made possible by PEA Kerry Buxton, and the campus LPC, Susan Hightower. Additionally, the PEAs would be more than happy to arrange to escort you to, and stay with you during your visit and/or appointment to the health center, regardless of the issue.

Primarily, we are here to offer our assistance to any student who has concerns about her physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. You are always welcome to make suggestions for programs that you would like to see here on campus, and any SweetPEA would be glad to answer questions you have about the health center. The Voice has given the SweetPEAs this wonderful opportunity to publish an article every month, and we want you, the students, to direct the focus of our column.
